meme (thanks and hav fun running the country):
A few days after the election of Barack Obama, kids around the country were asked to provide advice and guidance to their new president. In this collection, arriving at inauguration time, there's loads of advice for the president, often hilarious, sometimes heartfelt and occasionally downright practical. Students from all over the country reach out to the 44th president, speaking to the issues closest to their hearts, relating their life stories, and asking for help. Topics include the economy, education, war, global warming, race relations in America and immigration. The book also includes letters about snow cones, puppies, microwavable burritos, dinosaur projects, multiplication and the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, reportedly haunting a White House bedroom.
Thanks and Have Fun Running the Country includes such advice as:
"If I were president, I would help all nations, even Hawaii."
— Chad Timsing, age 9, Los Angeles
"I really hope you put America back together. No pressure though."
— Sheenie Shannon Yip, age 13, Seattle
"1.
Fly to the White House in a helicopter. 2. Walk in. 3. Wipe feet. 4.
Walk to the Oval Office. 5. Sit down in a chair. 6. Put hand sanitizer
on hands. 7. Enjoy moment. 8. Get up. 9. Get in car. 10. Go to the dog
pound."
— Chandler Browne, age 12, Chicago
And, while it wasn't advice, exactly, we thought this was worth sharing:
"You are just like a big me." — Avante Price, age 7, Seattle

What is your mother's maiden name?
What is your older sister's favorite Monopoly game piece?
Who did your paternal grandfather vote for in the 1956 presidential election?
Why did you choose a liberal-arts degree when your entire family urged you to go into finance?
In what year did you begin working on your novel?
How many weeks away was graduation when you dropped out of college?
What was your score on the civil-service employment exam?
Where were you sitting when your girlfriend told you she was pregnant?
Where did you never end up going for your honeymoon?
In what year did you begin working for the post office?
What is the name of the hedge-fund manager your ex-wife married?
How many hours did it take you to drink that bottle of Jack Daniel's yesterday?
What time was it when, in a drunken rage, you threw your novel into the fire?
If you could do it all over again, what would you do differently?

meme (postering):
Olly has decided to create a series of movie posters reinterperated in a kinda minimalistic post modern German-ism style. “The posters were made for fun. I love design and I love films so it was an ideal personal project,” Olly tells /Film. “In most cases I chose popular films with strong scenes or themes that would be immediately recognisable even when represented very simply.”
The Dark Knight: “The silhouette in this poster was absolutely inspired by the intro to the 90s Batman animated series.”
Charlie Chaplin’s The Great Dictator: “I came up with the idea when I was playing around with an idea for a threadless tee based on disguises, and realised that if you used a comb as a mustache you could be mistaken for either Hitler or Chaplin. Then I remembered Chaplin had played a Hitler-like character in The Great Dictator and this reversible poster seemed like a pretty logical extension of the image. ”

Setting the bar pretty high for airship design is this one from Christopher Ottersbach: Called the Aeolus Airship (named after Aeolus, the Greek wind god) it is designed to be aerodynamic than conventional airship designs, and stay aloft for up to two weeks on a supply of helium and, furthermore, is pedal-powered by the crew of 2-4 people. That’s about all the tech detail I’ve come across; it’s certainly made the rounds in the past couple of days but no specific website or contact info seems forthcoming. Christopher, I’d love to talk to you if you come across this.
In any case, here are lots of cool photos of this sleek new human-powered aircraft:
